Wild roses at Ashbridge’s Bay

Really, can there be anything more beautiful than a newly opened wild rose on an early summer’s day? So lovely to look at, and even more entrancing to smell.

Walking along the path at the part that we call “the peanut” (at the tip of the peninsula that encloses the bay), a score of wild rose bushes have taken hold in the uncut underbrush. And they keep spreading every year. They are beautiful to look at, but even more lovely to smell. Their scent is intoxicating, transporting.

Next time you’re running, roller blading, dog walking, skate boarding or otherwise enjoying the path at our park, stop to smell the roses. Really.

Good Monday Morning,Margaret. You delivered the smell of your roses to 35 Boardwalk. This makes my Day!
Last night I perused through your list of quotes which was enjoyable as through all of them there was woven a thread of Nature.
I am on my way now to greet our family. Will be thinking of you in the hopes to dip my cap.Isn’t the temperature in its low humidity just perfect?
Have a nice day…Egon.

Hi,Margaret.Enjoying your photos and also your clever description
of your adventures I regret that I always miss you in action.
In finally giving up as I might be on a different path I must simply ask you to make time—for maybe half an hour or so—to
drop at 35 Boardwalk (694 5481) to do us the honor to meet you.
Let us know how we can please you with some refreshment as we are not quite certain. Also,I really would like to present you with my token of appreciation before my time runs out.
At the same time I might request to consider honoring me with 3 or 4 photos.Should or could we dare to hope? Think,I’ll be 84 soon and you’ll never know.Is this not a persuavive way ?
Don’t be late.Greetings from Ursel your admiring fan Egon

Hi and Hello,Margaret.Another season is about to end and our cygnets are at a point of no return never to be seen again by us.And that is the way it is and always shall be.
I haven’t been out much in the last weeks since I was not up to it, really.Yet,yesterday,I saw a white Swan at the inner Bay when we drove along Lakeshore Bld.in the morning. And in the afternoon I encountered a white swan (don’t ask me who)sailing in circles slowly on my pond nearby at Woodbine Pk.This time I am 100% sure!
I hope you are doing just fine, greetings Egon.
